New Methods for Reducing Payment Fraud

Presented by Robert Unger, Nacha

The credit department plays a critical role in managing accounts receivable portfolio risk to protect profits. Besides the essential task of evaluating credit worthiness, reducing risk now especially means mitigating payment fraud, and companies are getting slammed with fraud attempts. Nacha, the non-profit governing body for the ACH Network, has previously collaborated with the Credit Research Foundation and AP-focused professionals to assess the burden of validating payment-related information necessary for sending/receiving payments. Current payment-data validation requires manual effort and/or extensive connections to external validation sources. Reducing fraud in the payment stream and being able to do so through a single connection is the goal. This session will review:

  • Payment data validation friction
  • Opportunities to leverage a peer-to-peer blockchain network for mitigating fraud
